Don't miss out on all the DPR happenings this month! From Egg Hunts and MixxedFit to Drumming Class and Virtual Trivia, March is full of fun for all ages, with programs held both in person and virtually! Here's your monthly go-to guide highlighting what to mark on your calendar and make sure you're in attendance. MAR 1
  • MixxedFit: Get ready to move and groove while burning calories! This fitness class is a people-inspired dance class that is a mix of explosive dancing and boot camp toning.
MAR 4
  • Virtual Line Dancing Club: Join us for an hour of music, line dancing, and socialization. No prior experience required, this participant led social club allows members to teach other members a wide range of choreographed routines.
MAR 8
  • Virtual Mature Men Fitness Hour: t's time to get active! Join us for a virtual hour of fitness. You'll learn exercise principles and techniques using body resistance, free weights, or household items that can be substituted. Interactive instruction will be provided through Zoom.
MAR 11
  • Hip Hop & Paint: Time to Turn Up with painting, hip hop music, and conversation! Enjoy an evening of painting with all canvas paint and brushes included, Hip hop music provided. Spaces go fast for this course so get yours ASAP.
  • Virtual Bingo: Join us for a game of Bingo! You can play online or print out a card. It's a slower paced game but all are welcome to participate! The program is being offered using the Zoom online platform. Participants will be emailed the Zoom link and the link for the online Bingo cards 24 hours prior to the start of the program.
MAR 16
  • Creek Week Cleanup: Celebrate Creek Week with Durham Parks and Recreation! Pitch in to clean up your local waterways with a socially-distanced cleanup at the West Point on the Eno Environmental Education Pavilion. All supplies will be provided but please wear closed-toe shoes. Pre-registration is required for this program. Youth participants must be accompanied by a registered adult. Please note that everyone must be pre-registered individually in order to participate.
  • Virtual Mature Adult Open Forum: Open forums are meetings where anyone can voice their opinions and concerns about Durham Parks and Recreation Mature Adult issues they feel are important. Participants will receive the call in number for the program.
MAR 20
  • Individual Expedition: Mindfulness: Explore Indian Trail Park with a self-guided wellness activity for the whole family! Practice being present and enjoying the outdoors through kid-friendly mindfulness activities. Pick up an activity sheet from the drop box at the park anytime over the weekend to follow the mindfulness trail in the park. Pre-registration is required. Please note this is a self-guided program and will not be led by DPR staff.
  • Youth Sports Sampler: This sampler is designed to introduce different sports, basic fundamentals of each sport, and provide exposure to Walltown Park. The sampler promotes an atmosphere of fun and learning in a controlled safe environment.
MAR 25
  • Inclusive Egg Hunt To Go: Don't miss out on the Egg Hunt fun this year! Come pick up all the supplies you'll need for an Egg Scavenger Hunt at home. Each participant will receive an Egg Hunt bag, 20 filled eggs, a craft project, coloring pages, and more! This is an inclusive program, for children of all ability levels. Online registration is required, per person.
  • Family Fitness Frenzy: Come out and take a breath of fresh air at Walltown Park! Bring your family out! Everyone would need to register individually. We will do a variety of different bodyweight exercises together. Each exercise will have modifications so everyone can work out at the same time while having fun, and getting our bodies stronger. Please note: each person wishing to participate will need to register for the program.
MAR 30
  • 50+ Mixed Pickleball Ladder: Are you age 50 or above? Grab a partner and play in this dedicated doubles mixed pickleball ladder! In dedicated doubles you pair with your partner throughout the duration of the ladder and compete against other dedicated pairs. All skill levels are welcome in this fun, competitive 10-week long ladder. Matches will be played rain or shine, Tuesdays on the outdoor covered courts at Bethesda Park from March 30-June 8, 2021.
