Grand Opening Celebration of the Petsafe Dog Park located at Duke Park

Raise your paws in excitement! Join us for the Grand Opening Celebration of the PetSafe® Dog Park located at Duke Park, which will be taking place on Thursday, August 23 from 5 p.m until 6:30 p.m. Swing by 1608 Acadia Street, Durham, NC 27701 to see the brand new completed project, funded by PetSafe® and the Durham Parks Foundation. This event is free and open to the public!

We will have an official Leash Cutting Ceremony at 5:30 p.m. Dogs and their humans are invited to put their paw of approval on Durham's newest Dog Park. We'll also have food trucks on site throughout the event.

Please Note: All dogs are welcome, but must have proof of vaccinations to enter the dog park.

The PetSafe Dog Park located at Duke Park features 2 separate enclosed areas - a small dog area and a large dog area. Amenities within the dog park include waste bag dispensers and benches. The small dog area is for dogs 15 inches or smaller and/or 30 pounds or under. The large dog area is for dogs 15 inches and taller and/or 30 pounds and over.

Did you know? In order to prepare for the Grand Opening, we had a local Goat Squad bring in over twenty goats to clear unwanted vegetation, brush, and invasive species at the new dog park. This will help increase sightlines and visibility around the park. What the goats can't chew, the community is invited to help gather up.

The Durham Bike Co-Op will be leading a work day to pull vines and cut shrubs. Residents are invited to help on August 16, 2018 from 3:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. If you plan on helping, please bring loppers, shovels, and gloves.
