Join the Fun at DPR Summer Camps
By: Danielle Haynes, Care Programs Administrator
The smell of sun screen, children laughing in the back ground, Kidz Bop rhythms playing in the background mixed with sunny hot days is what awaits us! Durham Parks and Recreation offers 13 summer camps in total, all providing a different variation of activities and fun.
Have you ever had the summer camp experience? Lifelong memories and friendships are built alongside the construction of plastic lanyards that takes all summer to truly master the top knot- but there are a few who will be determined to master this skill.
There are games of imagination with play fire trucks, doll houses, board games, play kitchens and restaurant menus created with food items that we can only wish existed in real life.
What about that favorite camp counselor? Nothing tops the feeling of seeing your favorite camp counselor walk through the door. There is a sense of excitement and security that rushes over participants. How do I know? I once was that shy participant who walked into summer camp knowing no one and walked away with life long memories and friendships.
Whatever brings each child excitement during the 9-week period, we know that DPR summer camps are here to encourage them, teach them, laugh with them and make their camp experience the best ever!
DPR’s School-Age Care staff has worked countless hours preparing for summer camp including finding exciting field trips, trying to hire the best staff, finding contractors to teach a skill to the participants and planning the big Camporee event that takes place in July with all the camps.
Although summer camp comes every year for some kids, some of our participants only have one time to experience this fun. We hope all participants are engaged, encouraged, learn a skill and have a great time while in camp with DPR. We’re headed to the fun, come join us!
Have you officially signed up for camp excitement? There are only a few weeks left until our first week of summer camp begins. Visit our website for a full list of open camper spots and sign your child up to be a part of the fun! For more information on cost, registration, and more, click here.
