Top 5 Things We Love About...West Point on the Eno!
Located along a 2-mile stretch of the scenic Eno River, West Point on the Eno is a 404-acre natural and historic park which can be accessed at 511 North Roxboro Road, 6 miles north of downtown Durham. With several historic buildings and outdoor features, this is a must-see park in Durham! The park also offers activities year-round for all ages to enjoy. - McCown-Mangum House: A restored 1850's farmhouse, perfect for photos and available to tour and rent. Please note, this facility is currently not accepting reservations. Please continue to check our website for updates on renting the McCown-Mangum House for your event.
- Hugh Mangum Museum of Photography: Originally used as a packhouse, now renovated as an exhibit of old photos and equipment for visitors to explore on the weekends. Free and open to the public on Saturday's and Sunday's from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
- Hiking Trails: Interested in a quick hike? There are five trails with miles of scenery, nature and wildlife ready for an adventure with your family and friends. Pack water and some snacks and check out the greenways scattered throughout the park.
- Eno River: Cool off near the scenic waters of the Eno River! Consider bringing your fishing rod, a chair to relax in or canoe to experience the nature and beauty of the river.
- West Point Mill: Once a prominent Mill on the Eno River starting in the 1700's, the West Point Mill is now functioning like it once did - grinding corn and wheat with water power. Stop by for a free demonstration on Saturday's and Sunday's from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Did you know you could even take some cornmeal home!?

- Wildlife: From squirrels and birds to butterflies and slugs, you'll see it all after spending a few hours exploring the park. Consider counting how many different types of wildlife you find and take pictures of any cool creatures you meet. Make sure you keep a safe distance at all times and do not cause any harm to the animals.
- Amphitheater at West Point: This secluded area nestled in the woods is the perfect setting for company picnics, festivals, concerts, performances and other large group gatherings. The facility can accommodate up to 4,000 people and includes a large open field, lawn seating, stage, electricity, water, and ample parking. Interested in renting the amphitheater? - Picnic Shelters: Pack a picnic and grab a table located throughout the park - most tables and grills are available for free on a first-come, first-served basis. Looking to plan a larger function? The larger picnic shelter was built to resemble a barn that once stood by and accommodates up to 75 people with features such as bathrooms, electricity and a grill. Their is also a smaller picnic shelter which can hold about 40 people - both shelters must be reserved and rental fees do apply. - Garden: Veggies galore is what the garden at West Point on the Eno offers! Setup right behind the McCown-Mangum house, this community garden has plenty of opportunities to get your hands dirty. Check online for program times to volunteer in and harvest the garden.
- Environmental Education Pavilion: We love partnerships! Shoutout to the NC State School of Design's Summer Design Studio for helping design and build this newly added facility, dedicated to environmental education.
