Participate in the 2020 Durham Senior Games

During this time the health and safety of our residents and staff are our top priority, beginning at 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 15, all City of Durham Parks and Recreation facilities and pools will close to the public.We have canceled and/or suspended all instructional and drop-in programs, leagues, activities, and events until further notice. Excitement about 2020 Durham Senior Games & SilverArts is building daily! With the opening event a little over two months away, registrations are coming in and Mature Adults all across Durham are practicing for their chosen athletic event(s) and/or working on their artistic endeavors. The Durham Senior Games will officially begin on April 13 and end on April 30.

This Olympic style event is designed to create a year-round health promotion and competition for participants that are 50+ years old. Participants will compete in a wide range of events including literary and visual arts, croquet, table tennis, basketball, swimming, cycling, track and field and more!

Registration is now open with early bird pricing in effect until Friday, February 28. Early bird registration offers a $2 discount on the general registration fees (not including golf or tennis). Regular registration fees will be applied from February 29 – March 20. There are three way to register: online, in person or by mail.

Entry fees include a Durham Senior Games t-shirt and entry into all events except for the additional fees necessary for golf and bowling. T-shirt pickup will be Wednesday, April 8, 2020 at the Durham Center for Senior Life and Thursday, April 9, 2020 at Walltown Park Recreation Center from 9 a.m.-12 p.m.

Keep in mind, all registrations must be received or postmarked by 5 p.m. Friday, March 20. Any registrations received after that date and time will be returned with no exceptions.

In the coming weeks, more detailed information will be available about specific events and activities like the Opening and Closing Ceremonies; SilverArts; and an overview of the athletic events.
