Safe Swimming with DPR Aquatics
It has been a few weeks since the reopening of our indoor pools and we couldn't be more excited to offer Durham residents a safe place to reserve lap swim lanes! To ensure the safety of our patrons, our Aquatics staff have developed and are implementing a variety of safety measures to be followed in our facilities. This blog post will share everything to expect during your reservation:
- Upon arrival all patrons will need to have a face covering on or one will be provided. Please scan the QR code on the entrance door (if you have a smart phone) and complete the wellness screen.
- Staff will be available to verbally ask you the questions and record your answers, if you need assistance. You will need to answer all of the questions then stop and show the staff the "cleared" screen before hitting the "submit" button.
- Staff will have you step inside and you will be asked to sanitize your hands and step up to the front desk to pay or use your passes to swim.
- Then you will be given a sanitized laundry basket for your personal belongings. We ask that you leave your valuables locked safely, out of sight, in your car.
- Please enter the family changing room, remove any outer clothes and take a rinse shower per the health code. Patrons are expected to enter the facility with their swim suits on. A staff member will direct you to a lap lane.
- If you need assistance, please let a staff member know. All patrons are provided a chair to use at their lane. Please place basket on or near the chair, remove your face mask to swim and enjoy!
- If you need to use the restroom during your swim, please replace your face mask and alert a staff member to enter the family changing room again.
- When you are done with your swim, please dry off your face and replace your face covering, finish drying off and put warm clothes over your suit to exit. Please place the laundry basket in the designated area for staff to sanitize for the next person and exit the pool area.
If you have any questions about the process or safety measures being taken, please do not hesitate to reach out by calling 919-560-4355 or emailing Recreation Manager, Colleen Toomey. At this time, please note that a lap swim reservation is required for anyone visiting our pools. Please visit the Indoor Pool Lap Lane Reservation for complete details.
