Coming this February: Virtual Jewelry Making, Newbie Pickleball Tournament & More
It's a new year for new fun with Durham Parks and Recreation! February is full of programs that you'll be sure to enjoy! From virtual programs to in-person programs, we've created this go-to guide highlighting what to mark on your calendar and make sure you're in attendance. - Virtual Kid-O-Cize: Up, down, turn around, time to move! Preschoolers will run, play, and stretch to music and burn lots of energy in this virtual program. Come join the fun and Kid-O-Cize! To connect virtually participants will need a good internet connection, a functioning computer, and a phone or tablet device with a camera and microphone capability. Don't miss out on this unique experience. Each participant will receive an email at least 3 days before the program begins with a link to join.

- Introduction to Pickleball: Interested in learning about Pickleball? If you are new to the sport or have just started playing and want some additional instruction in a fun and friendly atmosphere, then this Pickleball Clinic is for you! Players will participate in 1-hour sessions, meeting once a week for 4 weeks (4 sessions). You will learn how to keep score, the rules of the game, and tips to improve your confidence on the court. Come out and learn why people of all ages are excited about the sport of Pickleball!
- Virtual Martial Arts Fitness: Call all adults 18 years and older! Join us to get a great workout and learn some basic martial arts techniques from various forms of the art. Pre-registration is required for this class. A zoom link will be sent 24 hours before the program start date.

- Muddy Boots: Join us for a socially distanced adventure with your preschooler at the West Point on the Eno Environmental Education Pavilion. Stop by and see us at the pavilion to begin your self-guided walk in the woods and wear boots or sneakers that can get a little dirty! Children must be accompanied by a registered adult. Please note that children and adults must be pre-registered individually in order to participate.
- Virtual Name that Tune: Come show us your musical ear. Listen, guess and sing alone to your favorite songs. This program is designed for individuals with disabilities, but all are welcome to participate!

- Virtual Valentine Card Making: Join us for an afternoon of card-making just in time for Valentine’s Day. Follow one of the templates or make your own unique creation. Supplies will need to be picked up from I.R. Holmes Sr. Recreation Center at Campus Hills Park on Monday, February 8. Participants will receive an email with instructions by Friday, February 5.
- Virtual Love Bugs: Love Bugs? Have you caught the love bug? Let's celebrate our loved ones with a Valentine's Day story and crafts. Supplies will need to be picked up at Edison Johnson Recreation Center on Monday, February 8. Participants will receive an email with instructions by February 5.
- Flashlight Scavenger Hunt: Grab your flashlight, we're going on a scavenger hunt! Bring your family and come explore the park after dark on a flashlight scavenger hunt! Children must be accompanied by a registered adult. No cost but pre-registration is required. Please note that everyone must be pre-registered individually in order to participate.
- Virtual Jewelry Making Fun: Have fun creating your own jewelry using everyday items. Supplies will need to be picked up from Edison Johnson Recreation Center on Wednesday, February 10. Participants will receive an email with instructions by February 8.

- Individual Expedition: The Animalympics!: Get active outdoors with your family in Durham's Parks while learning and practicing animal movements in the Animalympics! Pick up an activity sheet from the dropbox at Duke Park over the weekend. Free program, registration required.
- Family Fitness Frenzy: Come out and take a breath of fresh air at Old North Durham Park! Bring your family out! Everyone would need to register individually. We will do a variety of different bodyweight exercises together. Each exercise will have modifications so everyone can work out at the same time while having fun, and getting our bodies stronger.
- Youth Sports Sampler: This sampler is designed to introduce different sports, basic fundamentals of each sport, and provide exposure to multiple DPR athletic facilities across Durham. The sampler promotes an atmosphere of fun and learning in a controlled safe environment. Activities Offered: Disc Golf, Basketball Drills, Lacrosse
- Explore Nature Drop In Hours: Explore West Point on the Eno as you may have never before! Enjoy hands-on nature and science activities and take on a hike along the nearby trails! No cost, but pre-registration is required for this program. Youth participants must be accompanied by a registered adult. Please note that everyone must be pre-registered individually in order to participate.
