Go Green at the 2022 Earth Day Festival

Who's ready to Go Green and celebrate our planet!? Folks of all ages are invited to join us for the 2022 Earth Day Festival on Sunday, April 24 from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Durham Central Park. Enjoy a day filled with an eclectic mix of music, food, hands-on environmental education activities and much more! All activities are free with the exception of food and Earth Day Market goods available for purchase. If the forecast is predicting a rain shower, bring an umbrella, because this event is rain or shine!

You'll want to plan out your day accordingly because we have more than enough activities and programs for you to enjoy! Festival goers will be able to explore local goods, crafts and resources at the Earth Day Market. Swing by the Way to Go Durham's Sustainable Transportation Expo to see GoDurham’s new electric bus and learn how to maneuver a bike on and off the bus’s bike rack! You can also take a test ride on an electric-assist bike or scooter! And the kids are sure to have a blast hanging out in the Family Fun Zone and receiving a free book at the Book Giveaway through Durham County Library. If you get hungry or need a drink, make sure to bring a refillable water bottle to fill at the Durham H20 2 Go Hydration Station and check out the local food trucks for a bit to eat. There will also be an opportunity to learn about how to 'be green' through transportation efforts as well the Zero-Waste Project, sponsored by Keep Durham Beautiful and Compost Now.

To top it all of, we want to help you get rid of your piles of documents laying around the house. Bring them down to 412 Morris Street where Shred Ace will greet you with free document shredding from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. If you want to read more about any of these activities, visit our website.

Don't forget about the jam-packed performance line-up! From Alternative Rock to Reggae to Variety Rock, your ears are in for a treat of smooth tunes. Throughout the day, you'll also get the chance to hear from special guest speakers for Earth Day Education Demos. Please note, this schedule is subject to change at any time. For the most updated performance schedule and artist lineup, make sure to visit our website.
