Seasonal Fall Fun for the Whole Family
It's Fall, y'all, and we're so excited to invite you to enjoy all of what this season have to offer at our upcoming events and programs. No matter what you love about this season, from the crisp and cozy, to the creepy and costumed, we've got something for you and your whole family. We've got some seasonal highlights below, but check out our online calendar for all upcoming events, registration info, and details!
Fall Colors Sunset Paddle
Enjoy the fall colors of the trees along Lake Michie while paddling canoes and kayaks with DPR staff. We will provide the equipment, you bring weather-appropriate clothes and wear closed-toe shoes.5 p.m. - 7 p.m.

Fright Night
It's the most frightening time of the year! All ghosts, witches, and monsters alike are invited to join us for Fright Night on October 14 at Edison Johnson Recreation Center! This FREE event features carnival games, a puppet show, a costume parade, a fun house, a family-friendly movie, and a haunted trail. It's going to be scary fun!Dressing up isn’t just for the little ones. Everyone is encouraged to get in the spirit and wear your favorite costume. Registration is not required, and you’re welcome to come for the entire time or just drop-in. Parking will be available at the recreation center and the Museum of Life and Science overflow parking lot.

Starlight Paddle
See a different side of Lake Michie with an evening Starlight Paddle. With its dark sky, Lake Michie offers excellent sky-watching opportunities, especially on the water. We will provide canoes and kayaks as a group to enjoy the beauty of the night sky over the lake. We will provide the equipment; you bring weather-appropriate clothing and closed-toe shoes.

Pumpkin Splash
Select your favorite pumpkin from one of many FLOATING in the pool, dry it off on the pool deck and use paints, stickers, and all kinds of fun craft supplies to decorate it. All swim levels are welcome and life vests will be provided. An adult will need to enter the water with children 9 years of age and younger.3 p.m. - 5 p.m.

Halloween Flashlight Scavenger Hunt
Looking for a fun Halloween activity for the whole family? This activity is just for you! Bring your family or team of friends and come race through West Point on the Eno after dark. You will search for hidden reflective Halloween and nature themed “targets” around the park using flashlights.Maybe you've heard the old tales of a dark and stormy night and the clown car crash that was never recovered from the Eno River...legend has it that once a year, clowns can be seen along the trails of West Point on the Eno. Whether you believe the stories or not, we dare you to join us for a creepy take on our popular flashlight scavenger hunt. Bring a flashlight and search for clowns along the trail, but watch out for Buttons... he’s a little grumpy.
